Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents, Guardians, and Visitors,

Welcome to Springfield Middle School!

At Springfield Middle School, our mission is to cultivate meaningful relationships, embrace diversity, and pursue academic excellence and equity for all students. At the heart of this work is our shared belief in the HERD Mentality:

We are many. We are mighty. We are one.

Our HERD Mentality is grounded in four core values that guide how we learn, lead, and treat one another each day:

• Honor – We do the right thing, even when no one is watching, and take responsibility for our choices.
   
• Empathy – We seek to understand others, value differences, and build a community where everyone belongs.
   
• Resilience – We learn from challenges, embrace growth, and strive to be 1% better each day.
   
• Drive – We set goals, give our best effort, and prepare ourselves for success beyond middle school.

Building strong relationships across our school community is our top priority. We want every student who walks through our doors to feel that Springfield Middle School is their home and that they are known, supported, and valued as individuals. Our goal is for all students to have multiple trusted adults they can turn to for guidance, encouragement, and support. Through classrooms, extracurricular activities, and daily interactions, we work intentionally to help students build positive relationships with both peers and adults.

We are proud of the diversity that makes Springfield Middle School such a special place. Our differences strengthen us. By celebrating each student’s unique background, culture, and experiences, we create a community rooted in empathy, respect, and belonging. We expect our students and staff to treat one another with kindness and understanding, recognizing that when we care for one another, we grow stronger together.

Academic excellence is a shared commitment at Springfield Middle School. Our teachers and staff work tirelessly to ensure all students reach their highest potential. We believe every student is capable of growth and success when they are challenged, supported, and encouraged to be resilient and driven learners. When students, families, and staff work together as one HERD, our students are prepared for high school and future college, career, or military pathways.
